Enable Jelastic Ruby Hosting

Jelastic has begun beta testing of Ruby hosting support. To be the first to try it out can activate Ruby hosting for all of the users, for some groups or just for a specified user:

For separate users

If you want to make Ruby available only for separate users, navigate to your JCA > Users > Quotas.

Choose a user and activate beta.enable_ruby quota by changing the value to 1.

In this case, the user will see a Ruby tab near Java and PHP in the Environment topology window.

For an existing group

To give Ruby access for a whole group of users, navigate to your JCA > Billing > Groups > Quotas.

Choose a group and activate beta.enable_ruby quota by changing the value to 1.

In this case this group of users will see a Ruby tab near Java and PHP in the Environment topology window.

For a separate group

You can create a separate group of users for beta testing Ruby.
Navigate to JCA > Groups.
Create a group, for example ruby_only_test.

Go to System settings > User Interface.

Select the LANGUAGES_ENABLED parameter and click Add. Fill in the required fields:

  • Group (the one you've just created, e.g. ruby_only_test)
  • Language (default language at the dashboard)
  • Value (ruby)

In this case this group of users will only have a Ruby tab in the Environment topology window (no Java or PHP).

For all users

Navigate to your JCA > System settings > User Interface.

Find the LANGUAGES_ENABLED parameter and add "ruby" to the list of available programming languages.

In this case, all users will see a Ruby tab near Java and PHP in the Environment topology window.

Note: as we are currently beta testing Ruby, we recommend to activate it only for separate users or a specifically created group.
