This document is based on Jelastic 5.3Provision of software stacks as Docker containers within Jelastic PaaS is based on Docker standard adoption. Such approach was automatically integrated to all Platforms starting from 5.0.5 Jelastic version, providing the following advantages for both cluster administrators and end-users:
- Quick Delivery of Software Updates
New versions of dockerized templates become available regardless of platform upgrade, being delivered to end-users immediately upon template renewal (by either Jelastic team ot cluster admin)
- Simple Integration & Version Switch
Any existing container can be seamlessly updated with a new tag through the inbuilt Docker container redeployment functionality
- Broad Customization Possibilities
Cluster admins get an ability to apply customizations to any default Jelastic-managed stack template through building a new one on its base
Own Stacks Distribution
Template customization approach also implies possibility to prepare own dockerized stacks on top of the common formalized basic Jelastic dockerized template - the appropriate guidance will be provided separately within future Jelastic releases
Currently, the following stack templates have been already dockerized. Here, the default tag for each template is highlighted in bold - such are automatically picked for use when the appropriate server is selected within wizard or API until any other version is specified.
The rest of Jelastic certified stack templates are going to be converted during further Jelastic releases.
